TRACK & FIELD ROUNDUP: Montez, Ward lead CJ girls at Nixa; Cavaliers set school records at Pierce City

MONTEZ, WARD LEAD CJ GIRLS AT NIXA

NIXA, Mo. — Carl Junction’s Ally Montez and Sydney Ward won two events apiece on Tuesday at the Nixa Eagle Invitational. 

A senior, Montez won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.87 seconds. A Pittsburg State signee, Montez also crossed the line first in the 300 hurdles in 46.08 seconds. 

A freshman, Ward won both the 100-meter dash (13.06 seconds) and the 200 (26.32). 

Also for the Bulldogs, Montez took second i n the 200, Emerson Lundien was the runner-up in the pole vault, Olivia Vediz placed third in the triple jump and Loren Lee finished fourth in the discus.

The CJ girls placed second in the 4×100 relay, with Vediz, Montez, Hannah Cantrell and Ward finishing in 51.07 seconds.

The CJ girls finished fifth in the team standings with 80.5 points. Nixa (141.5), Ozark (103.5), Republic (96.5) and Kickapoo (85) were the top four teams.

The top finisher for the CJ boys was Caleb Graham, who placed second in the pole vault by clearing 12 feet even. 

Also for the Bulldogs, Eli Haynes took fifth in the javelin and Parker Epperson finished seventh in the triple jump. 

The top four boys teams were Republic (152), Nixa (146), Kickapoo (89) and Ozark (74). 

 

CAVALIERS SET SCHOOL RECORDS AT PIERCE CITY

PIERCE CITY , Mo. — The Thomas Jefferson Cavaliers were among the teams competing at the Pierce City Invitational on Tuesday.

Two members of the Cavaliers set school records at the event. 

For the TJ boys, Kip Atteberry placed second in both the 1600 and the 3200. Cavaliers coach Junior Joseph said Atteberry set a school record in the 1600 with his time of 4:43.42. 

Elias Rincker took second in the 300 hurdles. 

For the TJ girls, Alivia Beard finished third in the 100-meter dash with a school record time of 13.16 seconds.

Also for the Thomas Jefferson girls, Nico Carlson was the runner-up in the high jump, Avery Hocker placed third in the triple jump and Gabbi Hiebert was third in the high jump.

The 4×100 relay team of Carlson, Hiebert, Leah Studer and Beard finished third.
