VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Carthage earns win, McAuley wins twice; East Newton beats Seneca; CHC, Joplin fall

CARTHAGE 3, CASSVILLE 0

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage earned its fifth straight win after beating Cassville 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19 on Tuesday night.

Jaidyn Brunnert had 18 assists, eight kills, seven digs and three aces, while Ava Bourgault finished with 15 digs, eight kills and an ace. Riann Schwartz had 22 digs and three aces, while Millie Templeman had eight kills, four digs and three aces. Sadie Comer finished with 21 assists, eight kills and five digs, with Bella Coy adding five kills, a dig and three blocks. Ella Schwartz had five digs and Peyton Ray had four kills.
Carthage (8-4) is at Springfield Classic on Thursday.

 

MCAULEY 2, BRONAUGH 0

McAuley earned a clean sweep over Bronaugh on Tuesday with a 25-17 and 25-16 win. 

Kloee Williamson led the Warriors with eight kills, while Avery Gardner had four kills and five aces.

 

MCAULEY 2, EXETER 0

In the second game of the night, McAuley earned a 25-22 and 25-14 win over Exeter to sweep both matchups. 

Williamson had six kills and five aces, with Gardner finishing with five kills. Jadyn LaFerla had four aces.

 

JASPER 3, COLLEGE HEIGHTS 0

College Heights suffered a 25-22, 25-17 and 25-13 loss to Jasper on Tuesday. 

The Cougars’ record sits at 4-4-1 on the season.

Bailey Peeples finished with seven kills, while Lilly Plassman had 22 digs. Maddy Colin finished with 13 assists.

College Heights hosts Marionville on Thursday.

 

EAST NEWTON 3, SENECA 2

EAST NEWTON, Mo. — East Newton hosted Seneca and the Patriots rallied all the way back from an 0-2 hole to defeat the Indians 23-25, 16-25, 31-29, 25-15 and 15-11 in a  five-set thriller on Tuesday.

Seneca was led by Jera Jameson’s 24 kills, three aces and a block. Ella Graham had 30 digs and three aces, while Anna Adkins closed with 42 assists and five aces. Olivia Leonard had nine kills and two blocks, while Maddy Hembree had three kills.

 

SPRINGFIELD CATHOLIC 3, JOPLIN 0

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield Catholic defeated Joplin 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 on Tuesday night.

Bailey Owens led Joplin with 14 kills, five digs and two blocks, while Adalynn Noirfalise recorded 22 assists and eight digs.

Also for the Eagles, Raelin Calderon had five kills and five aces, Janiah Vaughn contributed seven kills and Phia Vogel had 12 digs.

Joplin hosts Webb City on Thursday night.
