Three area boys tennis teams suffered postseason losses on Monday at their respective district tournaments.
CLASS 2 DISTRICT 7
The Neosho High School boys tennis team concluded the 2021 season on Monday, as the fifth-seeded Wildcats suffered a 5-0 loss to fourth-seeded Belton at the Class 2 District 7 team tournament.
In doubles, Belton’s Ike Irvin-Jacob Dolphin defeated Neosho’s Christian Williams and Melvin Lopez 8-2, Xavier Diamond-Caden Petzold beat Ryno Lee and Blaze McKay 8-4 and Carson Dent-Omar Martinez defeated Caden Kelly-Kevin Paige 8-3.
In singles action, Irvin defeated Williams 6-3, 6-1 and Diamond beat Lee 6-1, 6-2.
In Tuesday’s matchups, No. 1 Thomas Jefferson plays Belton, while No. 2 Webb City squares off against No. 3 Carl Junction.
The team district championship match is scheduled for May 12.
CLASS 3 DISTRICT 6
Joplin and Carthage both suffered season-ending losses on Monday at the Class 3 District 6 tournament.
Third-seeded Lee’s Summit North defeated Joplin 5-0 and fourth-seeded Lee’s Summit topped fifth-seeded Carthage 5-0. Match by match results were unavailable at time of publication.
In Tuesday’s semifinals, No. 1 Lee’s Summit West awaits Lee’s Summit, while No. 2 Raymore-Peculiar will take on Lee’s Summit North.
The district title match is May 12.
