TRACK & FIELD: Cavaliers, Warriors see success at Sarcoxie

Athletes from Thomas Jefferson Independent and McAuley Catholic fared well at the Inch at a Time Track Classic on Friday at Sarcoxie High School. 

Thomas Jefferson’s Kip Atteberry won the 1600-meter run in 4:44. 

McAuley’s 4×400 relay team of Michael Parrigon, Jake Higginbotham, Dylan Taffner and Jacob Bracich took second in 3:48. The Warriors finished third in the 4×800, with Parrigon, Armando Alberto, Phillip Motazedi and Drew Zeb competing.

McAuley’s 4×200 relay team placed fourth and the 4×100 finished fifth, with Higginbotham, Bracich, Taffner and Ethan Stabb competing in both races.

Bracich was the runner-up in the long jump (5.81m), while Parrigon placed fourth in the 400 (54.84).

For the Thomas Jefferson girls, Nico Carlson was the runner-up in the high jump, with teammate Gabbi Hiebert fifth. Both cleared 1.37 meters.

Alexis Stamps took second in the discus (26.79m) and teammate Lannah Grigg was sixth (23.74m). 

Avery Hocker placed fourth in the triple jump (9.68m), while Alivia Beard finished fifth in the 100 (14.31). Phoenix Wade was sixth in the shot put (27-0), with teammate Grigg seventh (26-10.75). 

Thomas Jefferson’s girls finished third in the 4×100 relay, with Hocker, Hiebert, Carlson and Beard recording a time of 57.33 seconds. 

The Cavaliers were also third in the 4×800, as Mia Grubbs, Sarah Mueller, Samantha Seto and Macie Shifferd finished in 13:04.
