PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Carthage and Webb earn conference wins; Joplin and Seneca fall

CARTHAGE TOPS REPUBLIC IN FIVE SETS

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage followed up it’s conference win over Joplin with another Central Ozark Conference victory after defeating Republic in five sets on Thursday.

Republic (11-5, 202 COC) opened with a 25-20 win before Carthage (13-11, 2-2 COC) evened things up at 1-1 with a 26-24 win in the second set. Both teams traded the third (25-19, Republic) and fourth (25-22, Carthage) before CHS closed out the thrilling win 15-12 in the fifth set.

Sydnee Dudolski had 22 kills, three aces, 15 digs and a block to lead Carthage. Mia Camarillo had 13 kills, while Sophie Shannon added eight kills and three blocks. Raven Probert finished with 30 assists and eight digs. Olivia Bourgault had 19 digs.

Carthage hosts Bentonville on Monday.

 

WEBB CITY TOPS BRANSON

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Webb City earned a 3-1 Central Ozark Conference win over Branson on Thursday.

Kate Brownfield led the Cardinals with 10 kills, 15 kills and four aces, while Kearston Galardo had 15 kills and nine digs.

Aubree Lassiter added eight kills and three aces, while Makenzie Storm had five kills, six digs and three blocks. Brenda Lawrence added four kills and four digs.

Kyah Sanborn had 32 assists and nine digs, while Jenna Noel added 13 digs. 

Webb City (13-7-1, 2-2 COC) is at Carl Junction on Tuesday. 

 

NIXA EARNS 3-0 WIN OVER JOPLIN

Nixa hit the road and defeated Joplin 25-17, 25-14 and 25-12 in a Central Ozark Conference clash on Thursday.

The win puts Nixa at 14-1, 3-0 in the COC, while Joplin falls to 8-5, 1-2 in conference play.

Emma Floyd led Joplin in kills with seven, while adding three blocks. Allie Lawrence had four kills and three digs with an ace. Kaya Cooper had 10 assists and four digs, while Paisley Parker had eight digs. Jayla Hunter and Abby Edwards each finished with six digs. 

Joplin takes part in the Neosho Invitational on Saturday.

 

SENECA FALLS IN FIVE SETS

NEVADA, Mo. — Seneca rallied from an 0-2 hole before falling in five sets to Nevada on Thursday.

The Tigers opened the night with 25-11 and 25-15 victories in the first two sets to take a foothold on the contest. The Indians rallied to take the second and third sets 25-14 and 25-21 before Nevada earned a match-deciding 15-13 win in the fifth set.

Rylee Darnell had 37 assists, four aces and 20 digs, while Braxton Raulston had 18 digs and two aces. Parker Long had 10 kills and 13 digs, while Jera Jameson added 12 kills, 11 digs and six blocks. Brylee Sage had nine kill for the Indians.

Seneca takes part in the Neosho Invitational on Saturday.
