PREP SOFTBALL: Monett defeats Carl Junction 21-11

MONETT, Mo. — Carl Junction led Monett 9-7 after two innings before the Cubs outscored the Bulldogs 14-2 in the final three innings on the way to a 21-12 win on Monday.

Both teams crossed home three times in the first, with Carl Junction touching the plate six times in the second and the Cubs adding four runs in the bottom half. Monett scored six runs in the third, two more in the fourth and six more in the fifth to end the game in five innings.

Kendra Parsons started and took a no-decision after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits, a walk and two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Abby Inman earned the win for Monett after allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and five walks in 3 2/3 relief innings.

Hannah Cole took the loss after allowing 15 runs, 10 earned, on 13 hits, a walk and a strikeout in four innings.

Halle Schoen went 5-for-5 with a triple, five runs scored and three RBI, while Kailyn Cendroski went 4-for-5 with a triple, four RBI and four runs scored. Madeline Mettlach homered, had three hits, drove in four and scored a run, while Molly Poole tripled twice, drove in fire runs and scored three times. 

Allison Plumlee had three hits, including a double and three RBI, while Addie Brock doubled twice, drove in three and scored twice to lead Carl Junction. Hannah Cantrell had two hits and scored three runs, while Madi Olds had two hits, scored three times and drove in one.

Carl Junction hosts Webb City on Tuesday, while Monett hosts Nevada on Tuesday.
