JOPLIN FALLS TO WILLARD
Joplin suffered 7-2 a setback to Willard on Thursday in Central Ozark Conference tennis action at the JHS courts.
The Eagles won two of the three doubles matches.
Joplin’s No. 1 doubles team of Emma Watts and Brynn Driver defeated Alyssa Flynn and Evie Sly 8-1.
Joplin’s Jensen Vowels and Mya Ndedi Ntepe earned an 8-4 win over Gracie Chunn and Jacey Wilson.
At No. 3 doubles, Willard’s Jayden Troutt and Katelyn Long edged Alex Carson and Bonnie Smith 9-7.
Willard won all six singles matches.
Flynn defeated Watts 8-4, Sly beat Vowels 8-3, Chunn topped Ndedi Ntepe 8-0, Troutt defeated Driver 8-2, Wilson edged Carson 9-8 (7-2) and Long beat Smith 8-1.
Joplin will be among the teams competing at the Bird-Dog Classic on Friday.

NEOSHO, Mo. — Ozark swept all six singles matches and the three doubles matches against the host Wildcats on Thursday in COC tennis action.
In singles, Ozark’s Lilli Roeder defeated Claudia Martensen 8-0, Makenna Whitfield beat Lyndsey Doke 8-0, Laura Wolfe topped Georgia Housh 8-1, Serena Broussard edged Keely Keeton 9-7, Jadyn Dalton defeated Sydnee Minton 8-4 and Morgan Sutton beat Claire Burghart 8-1.
In doubles, Ozark’s Roeder-Whitfield defeated Martensen-Housh 8-0, while Wolfe-Broussard beat Doke-Keeton 8-1 and Dalton-Shaeley Combs topped Minton-Burghart 8-0.
Neosho is at the Republic tourney on Friday.
