SOFTBALL: Bonsey pitches 9-inning shutout to lead Branson past Carl Junction

BRANSON, Mo. — Peyton Bonsey pitched a nine-inning complete game shutout to lead Branson to a 1-0 extra-inning win over Carl Junction on Tuesday.

Bonsey scattered six hits, struck out five and walked one to earn the win. 

Saedra Allen took the loss after allowing one run on two hits and two walks. She struck out a game-high 13.

Langley Miller reached base on an error to lead off the bottom of the ninth for Branson before being thrown out at second on a fielder’s choice, which allowed Sierra Dailey to reach and take her place at first base. After a fielder’s choice by Bonsey put runners on first and second with two outs, a walk loaded the bases. Tatum Worth hit a fly ball to center and reached on an error, allowing the winning run to score.

STATS

Izzie Southern led Carl Junction (4-11) with two hits, while Allen, Allison Plumlee, Kaitlyn Nease and Jayden Green all recorded hits. Nease and Green had doubles.

Carl Junction takes part in the Springfield Tournament on Friday, opening with a matchup against Hillcrest.
