CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Nixa started fast and never looked back in a 56-8 win over Carl Junction in Central Ozark Conference action on Friday.
The Eagles (6-0) held off the Bulldogs’ early attempts at getting into the end zone and built a 14-0 lead by the start of the second quarter. Nixa scored three more times in the second quarter to take a 35-0 lead over Carl Junction (2-4) by the intermission and didn’t slow down in the second half.
Nixa got on the scoreboard on its first drive when QB Connor Knatcal found TE Gavin Kranz for an 8-yard touchdown connection with 5:43 in the opening quarter.
Knatcal hooked up with WR Kael Combs for a 22-yard touchdown with 1:58 left in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 14-0 advantage over Carl Junction.
The Eagles were facing first-down and 16 from their own 32-yard line when Combs caught a pass in the flat on the bubble screen before using a block and sprinting his way past the Bulldog defense for a 68-yard score to push the lead to 21-0 with 7:34 left in the first half.
RB Ramone Green added a 7-yard touchdown for Nixa with 4:55 left to play in the first half for a 28-0 lead.
Knatcal found Combs in the end zone from 4 yards out on first and goal for a touchdown with 26 seconds left in the first half to give Nixa a 35-0 advantage.
Nixa scored out of the locker room when Knatcal found Krans for a 45-yard touchdown pass up the seam to push the lead to 42-0 with 9:09 to play in the third quarter.
QB Nate Uber found Combs for a 7-yard touchdown with 5:15 left in the third quarter to make the score 49-0.
RB Dylan Rebura added a 52-yard rushing score for the Eagles.
Carl Junction got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when RB Marcus Lopez-Durman scored from 4 yards out.
