GIRLS HOOPS ROUNDUP: College Heights and McAuley Catholic earn wins to open Gem City Classic

COLLEGE HEIGHTS DOMINATES IN WIN OVER LOCKWOOD

DIAMOND, Mo. — College Heights Christian opened its play in the Gem City Classic with a dominating 56-17 win over Lockwood on Monday.

The Cougars, who improved to 2-0 on the season, held Lockwood to just two points in the first quarter to build a 19-point lead. College Heights’ defense didn’t waver, holding Lockwood to single digit points in each of the remaining three quarters en route to the win.

Grace Bishop led College Heights with 14 points. Catie Secker added 12 points to give the Cougars two players in double figures. Klohe Burk added nine points, while Addie Lawrence finished with five. 

Gatlyn Clawson led Lockwood with six points, while Tarryn Glenn added four.

College Heights is back in action on Wednesday in the Gem City Classic.

 

McAULEY CATHOLIC DOWNS SOUTHWEST

DIAMOND, Mo. — McAuley Catholic opened the Gem City Classic with a 70-47 rout of Southwest on Monday.

The Warriors move to 2-0 on the season. After building a 15-point cushion by halftime, McAuley outscored Southwest 29-8 in the third quarter to build an insurmountable lead on the way to the victory.

Kayleigh Teeter led all scorers with 29 points, while Kennedy DeRuy scored 21 points in the win for the Warriors. Gliza Damaso scored 14 to give McAuley three players in double figures.

McAuley is back in action on Wednesday against Diamond in the Gem City Classic.
