SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Luciano Reyes scored a pair of goals in the second half to lead the Joplin High School boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over Springfield Catholic on Monday night.
Joplin’s Adam Montanez scored an unassisted goal in the 16th minute.
Catholic’s Kydon Huttenlocher tied it up with a goal in the 40th minute and teammate Matthew Gerety’s penalty kick in the 60th minute gave the Irish a 2-1 lead.
A senior forward, Reyes converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute.
Reyes scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute, with Luis Alvarado assisting.
Joplin goalkeeper Andrew Jordan made eight saves, while Catholic’s Braedon Fritz stopped two shots.
Joplin had six corner kicks, while Catholic had two.
The Eagles are at Carl Junction on Tuesday night. Joplin will host College Heights with McAuley Catholic on Thursday night.
