CARTHAGE AT CARL JUNCTION
Last week: Carthage def. Ozark 35-14; Carl Junction def. Willard 29-12.
Last year: Carthage def. Carl Junction 35-7.
OUTLOOK: This will be Carl Junction’s home-opener at Bulldog Stadium, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Both teams are coming off confidence-building wins in Week 1. And in both Central Ozark Conference contests, the Tigers and Bulldogs gave up just two scores apiece.
In a breakout performance, Carthage sophomore running back Luke Gall scored five touchdowns in Week 1. Gall racked up 259 rushing yards, showing that the Tigers are much more than just the ‘Patrick Carlton Show.’ Carl Junction’s Alex Baker, in his first start since his sophomore year, was impressive at QB, as he threw three touchdown passes and totaled nearly 300 yards against Willard. CJ’s Brady Sims ran for two scores, while Drew Patterson and Noah Southern hauled in touchdown passes. Southern made 11 tackles to lead the CJ defense.
Carthage has won three of four meetings with Carl Junction since the Bulldogs joined the COC.
