SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Joplin outscores Glendale; Webb City, Neosho fall to Oklahoma teams

JOPLIN 17, GLENDALE 10

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Joplin (14-12) rallied back from an 8-4 deficit after two innings to defeat Glendale behind a four-run fourth, three-run fifth and six-run seventh inning on Monday.

Ava Wolf earned the win in relief after allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts in six innings.

Jeri Ray took the loss in relief after allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and a strikeout in two innings.

Wolf doubled twice on the way to three hits and two RBI, while Abby Lowery doubled twice and finished with three hits, two RBI and three runs scored. Jadyn Pankow also had three hits, including a double, to go along with five RBI and two runs scored. Libby Munn homered and doubled and finished with three RBI and two runs scored. Maria Loum had three hits and scored three runs.

Joplin hosts Webb City on Tuesday.

 

WYANDOTTE 3, WEBB CITY 2

WYANDOTTE, Okla. — Webb City tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning before Wyandotte answered with a go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to fuel a win over the Cardinals on Monday.

Brynlea Collins earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits, a walk and a strikeout in three relief innings.

Laney Taylor took the loss in relief after allowing one run on two hits in 2/3 of an inning. 

Jensyn Pickett had two hits and scored a run for Webb City, while Karsyn Cahoon had a hit and two RBI.

With the loss, Webb City is now 22-10. The Bears improved to 28-8.

Also of note, Webb City went 4-1 at this past weekend’s Springfield Tournament. Webb City defeated Reeds Spring (15-0), Park Hill South (3-2), Lee’s Summit North (8-2) and Republic (6-5). The Cardinals lost to Nevada (3-0).

 

GROVE 6, NEOSHO 1

GROVE, Okla. — After both teams traded runs in the first inning, Grove scored twice in the second, twice in the fifth and once more in the sixth to defeat Neosho on Monday.

T Gonzalez earned the win in the circle after allowing one run on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Carleigh Kinnaird took the loss after allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits, four walks and nine strikeouts in five innings.

Autumn Kinnaird singled and scored a run, while Kynden Smith had a hit and an RBI for Neosho.

Neosho (24-5) is at Carthage on Tuesday.
