BOYS SOCCER: Joplin knocks off Neosho

The Joplin High School boys soccer team defeated Neosho 4-2 on Tuesday night.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead after Adam Badr scored in the 12th minute and Ely Montanez recorded goals in the 44th and 67th minutes.

Blanton Garrigan and Andy Cordova assisted on Montanez’s goals. 

Neosho scored back-to-back goals in the 75th and 76th minutes, with Fabiani Ohajaca scoring the second goal.

Joplin responded in the 77th minute, as Cordova scored, with Badr assisting.

The Eagles took 22 shots, with eight shots on goal. The Wildcats took 11 shots, with five on goal. 

Joplin had four corner kicks to Neosho’s one.

Joplin goalkeeper Brayden Anderson was credited with three saves. 

Joplin will compete at this weekend’s Jefferson City tournament. 

Neosho hosts McDonald County on Wednesday.
