ANDERSON, Mo. — McDonald County pushed a single run across in the fourth inning to earn a 1-0 win over Joplin on Tuesday.
The Mustangs finished with five hits and scored the game’s only run in the last of the fourth inning when Ashleigh Dornon reached on a dropped third strike to allow a run to score.
Madeline McCall earned the win for the Mustangs after holding Joplin scoreless on one hit, two walks and 18 strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Jill McDaniel took the tough-luck loss for Joplin (4-1) after allowing one unearned run on five hits, a walk and four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Jadyn Pankow had the lone hit for the Eagles, while Madisyn Tracy drew two walks.
Joplin hosts Cassville on Thursday.
