OZARK, Mo. — Joplin won two of the three doubles matches and three of the six singles matches to pull out a close Central Ozark Conference victory over Ozark on Thursday.
At No. 1 doubles, Joplin’s Emma Watts and Brynn Driver defeated Lilli Roeder and Makenna Whitfield 8-5, while Jensen Vowels and Mya Ndedi Ntepe beat Laura Wolfe and Serena Broussard 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Ozark’s Jadyn Dalton and Shaeley Combs beat Alex Carson and Bonnie Smith 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Watts beat Roeder 9-7, Vowels defeated Wolfe 8-1 and Driver defeated Broussard 8-3.
Ozark’s Whitfield defeated Ndedi Ntepe 8-4, Dalton topped Carson 8-1 and Morgan Sutton beat Gwenna Street 8-1.
Joplin hosts Carl Junction on Tuesday.
NEOSHO FALLS AT BRANSON
BRANSON, Mo. — Neosho fell 9-0 against Branson in Central Park Conference action on Thursday.
Branson’s Andrea Fuentes defeated Claudia Martensen 8-0 in No. 1 singles action, while Sylvie Barbour defeated Lyndsey Doke 8-1. Avery Webber defeated Georgia Housh 8-1 and Carly Vanderpluym won 8-3 against Keely Keeton in No. 4 singles play. Cassandra Carter defeated Sydnee Minton 8-1 and Jasmine Tran wrapped up singles action with an 8-0 win over Neosho’s Lauren Nageotte.
In doubles action, No. 1 Fuentes and Barbour defeated Martensen and Housh 8-1. Webber and Carter earned an 8-1 win over Doke and Keeton, while Vanderpluym and Tran defeated Minton and Nageotte 8-1.
