TRACK & FIELD: CJ’s Montez, Ward win two events apiece at SBU invite

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Carl Junction’s Ally Montez and Sydney Ward won two events apiece at the Southwest Baptist University High School Invitational track meet on Monday. 

The Carl Junction girls won four events in the Class 4-5 divisions, two apiece by Montez and Ward. 

A senior, Montez won both hurdle races. Montez won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.12 seconds and took first in the 300 hurdles in 45.78 seconds. 

A freshman, Ward crossed the line first in the 100-meter dash in 12.49 seconds. She also won the 200-meter dash in 25-77 seconds. 

Also for the CJ girls, Olivia Vediz placed third in the long jump (16-10) and sixth in the triple jump (33-2.5), while Madilyn Olds took fourth in the javelin (120-6) and Emerson Lundien finished eighth in the pole vault (8-8.25).

The CJ girls were fifth in the 4×100 relay, with Ward, Vediz, Hannah Cantrell and Montez competing.

Carl Junction finished ninth in the 4×200, with Ward, Delaney Harris, Riley Briggs and Emily Rice competing.

For the CJ boys, Caleb Graham took third in the pole vault (12-9.5), while teammate Owen Hensley was seventh in the same event (11-9.75).
