Volleyball: Webb City wins Hillcrest tourney

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Webb City avenged an early-tourney setback en route to capturing the championship plaque at the Hillcrest Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
In the tourney’s title match, Webb City defeated Camdenton 25-16, 12-25, 25-23.  Camdenton had beaten Webb City 25-21, 25-21 in pool play earlier in the day.
The Cardinals beat Joplin 25-21, 25-14 in the semifinals.
In earlier action, Webb City earned wins over Lebanon (25-20, 25-14) and Hillcrest (25-20, 25-15). The Cardinals split two sets with Waynesville (25-18, 24-26).
For the tourney, Maddy Peeples recorded 52 kills and 42 digs, while Brenda Lawrence had 31 kills and nine digs and Kenzie Storm contributed 19 kills and 11 blocks.
Kyah Sanborn compiled 63 assists and 33 digs, while Abby Stork contributed 16 digs and three aces and Avery Westhoven had 54 assists and 15 digs. Kearston Galardo had 10 aces and seven digs, while libero Sage Crane had 42 digs and seven aces.
Webb City travels to Seneca on Tuesday night.
