Softball: Big third inning leads Neosho past Ozark

OZARK, Mo. — A five-run third inning led Neosho to a 7-1 win over Ozark on Thursday in Central Ozark Conference softball action.
The Wildcats trailed 1-0 when they erupted for a big inning. A pair of insurance runs in the seventh accounted for the final score.
Lili Graue and Liv Campbell had two hits apiece for Neosho, while McKaylie Forrest and Sierra Jones drove in two runs apiece. Maddie Carpenter had one RBI, while Graue and Forrest scored two runs apiece.
Phenix Scott was the winning pitcher. She went four innings and allowed just one run on seven hits. Scott struck out two and walked two.
Brittany Winchester tossed the final three innings. She struck out three and gave up just one hit.
Ozark’s Jordan Foley took the loss. She allowed four earned runs in seven innings and struck out three.
Kenna Mayfield had three hits for the Tigers, while Athena Andrews went 2-for-3. Emily Schmucker drove in Ozark’s lone run with a double.
