FOOTBALL: A look at area district tournaments

District tournaments begin across the state of Missouri on Friday.

Below is a look at district tournaments of local interest.

CLASS 6 DISTRICT 5

Joplin is the No. 3 seed for the Class 6 District 5 tournament.

The Eagles (6-3) have a first round bye this week and will travel to second-seeded Kickapoo (8-1) on Nov. 3 for a semifinal contest.

This Friday’s lone district quarterfinal features fourth-seeded Waynesville (2-7) against fifth-seeded Ozark (1-8).

Top-seeded and Central Ozark Conference champion Nixa (9-0) awaits the Waynesville-Ozark winner in the semifinals on Nov. 3. 

The district title game is scheduled for Nov. 10.

 

CLASS 5 DISTRICT 7

Webb City (7-2) is the top seed for the Class 5 District 7 tournament. 

The Cardinals have a first-round bye and don’t play this Friday. Webb City will host the winner of the 4 vs. 5 matchup on Nov. 3.

This Friday’s quarterfinals feature No. 4 Belton (5-4) vs. No. 5 Ruskin (2-7), No. 2 Raytown South (7-2) entertaining No. 7 Neosho (1-8) and No. 3 Carthage (5-4) hosting No. 6 Smith-Cotton (2-7).

The Raytown South-Neosho winner will meet the Carthage-Smith-Cotton winner in the semifinals on Nov. 3.

 

CLASS 4 DISTRICT 7

Nevada (7-2) is the top seed and has a first-round bye.

In Friday’s quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Grandview (3-6) meets fifth-seeded Center (2-7), second-seeded Harrisonville (5-4) takes on seventh-seeded KC Southeast (1-7) and third-seeded Carl Junction (1-8) hosts sixth-seeded Lincoln College Prep (3-6).

Lincoln College Prep’s six losses are all by forfeit after the Blue Tigers used an ineligible player.

 

CLASS 4 DISTRICT 6

In Friday’s quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Rogersville (4-5) takes on fifth-seeded Hillcrest (1-8), second-seeded West Plains (5-4) hosts seventh-seeded Monett (0-9) and third-seeded McDonald County (5-4) entertains sixth-seeded Marshfield (2-7).

Top-seeded Bolivar (6-3) awaits the Rogersville-Hillcrest winner in the semifinals on Nov. 3.

If the Mustangs can win on Friday, they’d take on either West Plains or Monett in the semifinals on Nov. 3.

 

CLASS 3 DISTRICT 6

Undefeated Seneca (9-0) is the top seed for the Class 3 District 6 tournament. The Indians have a first-round bye.

In Friday’s quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Cassville (5-4) takes on fifth-seeded Aurora (5-4), second-seeded Mount Vernon (8-1) plays seventh-seeded Hollister (0-9) and third-seeded Reeds Spring (6-3) meets sixth-seeded East Newton (2-7).

Seneca will host the Cassville-Aurora winner in the semifinals on Nov. 3.

 

CLASS 2 DISTRICT 5

Lamar (8-1) is the No. 1 seed and has a first-round bye.

In Friday’s quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Sarcoxie (8-1) hosts fifth-seeded Diamond (5-4), second-seeded Adrian (9-0) entertains seventh-seeded Stockton (4-5) and third-seeded Butler (8-1) meets sixth-seeded El Dorado Springs (3-6).

Lamar will host the Sarcoxie-Diamond winner in the semifinals on Nov. 3.

 

8-MAN DISTRICT 1

College Heights Christian is the No. 2 seed.

In Friday’s quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Greenfield (2-6) plays fifth-seeded Jasper (0-9).

In the semifinals on Nov. 3, top-seeded Lockwood-Golden City (7-2) meets either Greenfield or Jasper and second-seeded College Heights (6-3) hosts third-seeded Liberal-Bronaugh (3-6) at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.

The district title game is Nov. 10.
