CRANE, Mo. —  College Heights Christian’s comeback bid came up short in a 45-40 loss to Crane on the road on Monday.

The Cougars led by seven at the intermission and were in contention down the stretch before Crane made several key plays down the stretch to earn the win.

We had the lead for most of the game,” CHC coach John Blankenship said to SoMo Sport. “To their credit, (Crane) hit their free throws down the stretch and finished well. We gave them too many extra possessions with turnovers. That’s hard to overcome, especially against that good of a team. But, I am really proud of how hard our team played. That would have been a great win for us, but it gives us encouragement to keep working hard and something to build on moving forward.”

Libby Fanning led the way for College Heights with a double-double after scoring 16 points and pulling down 21 rebounds. Ava Lett added 11 points, while Maddy Colin had 10 points, three assists and two steals. Kinley Marsh added six rebounds.

College Heights takes part in the Columbus, Kansas, Winter Classic basketball tournament over the weekend.
