BASEBALL ROUNDUP: College Heights beats Miller; Seneca cruises past Liberal; McAuley falls to Jasper

COLLEGE HEIGHTS 6, MILLER 4

College Heights used a six-run fourth inning to fuel a win over Miller on Monday.

The Cougars (3-5) took control of the scoreless game with six runs crossing home in the fourth, highlighted by an RBI singles from Smoke Ezell and Philip Thompson. Kelton Welch added an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Ben Thomas earned the win after allowing four unearned runs on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Spencer Bowles took the loss after allowing six runs, two earned, on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. 

Thompson and Welch each had two hits, scored a run and drove in one. Thomas added two hits at the plate. Ezell had a hit and drove in a run.

College Heights hosts Providence Academy on Tuesday.

 

SENECA 12, LIBERAL 0

LIBERAL, Mo. — Seneca scored early and often on the way to a six-inning win over Liberal on Monday.

The Indians (7-6) pushed across two runs in the first inning, four in the second, another single tally in the third and sealed the win with a five-run fifth inning.

Drew Shonwood earned the win after pitching 4 1/3 innings of hitless baseball. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

Kole Wiles took the loss after allowing six runs on five hits, four walks and two strikeouts in two innings.

Conner Ackerson hit a three-run home run and finished with a team-high four RBI to go along with two runs scored for Seneca. Lincoln Renfro had three hits, including a double, and scored a team-high three runs. Kade Johnson had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, while Shonewood added two hits and scored a run.

Kaleb Coleman had Liberal’s lone hit.

Seneca hosts Monett on Tuesday.

 

JASPER 9, MCAULEY 8

Jasper broke an 8-8 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth on the way to a one-run win over McAuley on Monday.

The Warriors (3-5) outhit the Eagles 12-3 but Jasper took advantage of eight walks.

Will Thompson earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits, four strikeouts and two walks in four relief innings. Jake Harris started and allowed six runs on eight hits, two walks and four strikeouts. 

Michael Parrigon took the loss after allowing six runs on one hit, eight walks and a strikeout in three innings. Trey Martinez allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits in three relief innings.

Jacob Davis homered, scored a run and drove in one for Jasper. Hunter Earl had one hit, one run and an RBI.

Rocco Bazzano-Joseph doubled on the way to three hits, one RBI and scored a run. Joe Staton had two hits, scored three times and had an RBI. Noah Black doubled, had two hits and two RBI, with Case Richards adding two hits and scoring twice.

McAuley is at Greenwood on Tuesday.
