BASEBALL: Pierce City uses crooked numbers to beat McAuley

PIERCE CITY, Mo. — Pierce City held a 3-1 lead before scoring seven times in the fifth inning on the way to an 11-1 win over McAuley in the Warriors regular season finale on Thursday.

McAuley finishes the season with a 9-12 record and head into the Class 1 District 5 tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Warriors take on No. 6 Wheaton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday at Billings High School.

Logan Cox earned the win after allowing one run on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts in two innings. 

Kendall Jones took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits, two walks and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. 

Kable Reichardt had two hits and drove in a run to lead McAuley at the plate.
