PREP VOLLEYBALL: Joplin wins Silver bracket at Hillcrest Classic

The Joplin High School volleyball team won the Silver bracket at the Hillcrest Classic on Saturday.

The Eagles went 2-1-2 on the day and are now 4-2-2 on the season. 

Joplin split two sets with Lebanon, as the Eagles won 25-16 and lost 25-15.

The Eagles also split with Glendale, dropping the first set 25-22 but winning the second set 25-18.

Willard defeated Joplin 25-13, 25-15. The Eagles beat Hillcrest 25-23, 25-23.

In the final match of the event, Joplin defeated Glendale 25-23, 25-23.

For the day, Allie Lawrence recorded 31 digs and 25 kills and three aces, while Emma Floyd had 15 kills and five blocks.

Abby Edwards contributed 12 kills, while Angelina Schramm had 10 kills and Bailey Owens had seven kills.

Jayla Hunter and Sydney Walker shared team-high honors with four aces apiece. 

Kaya Cooper handed out 36 assists, while Abby Hembree added 26 assists from the setter position.

Defensive specialist Paisley Parker had a team-high 44 digs on the day, while Hunter added 26 digs and Cooper had 20. 

Joplin hosts Aurora at 6:30 on Thursday inside Kaminsky Gymnasium.
