SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: College Heights cruises past Exeter; Big innings lift Diamond over Ash Grove

COLLEGE HEIGHTS 15, EXETER 0 (3 INNINGS)

College Heights (with McAuley) scored nine runs in the first inning and six more in the third inning on the way to a three-inning win over Exeter on Tuesday.

CHC pitcher Maddy Colin earned a three-inning no-hit win, striking out seven of the nine batters she faced in the game.

Aaliyah Perez, Allie Stout, Emma Angel, Jayli Johnson, Kloee Williamson and Colin all had run-scoring singles in the first inning for the Cougars.

Colin, Lauren Ukena and Kallie Spencer had RBI singles in the third inning.

Johnson had two hits, scored three times and drove in a run. Williamson finished with two hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Colin helped herself at the plate with a game-high four RBI on two hits. Perez and Ukena each had two hits, scored twice and drove in one. Stout had three RBI and scored a run to go along with her one hit. Spencer had a hit, scored a run and drove in one.

College Heights (2-0) hosts Wheaton on Friday.

 

DIAMOND 14, ASH GROVE 7

DIAMOND, Mo. — Diamond hung crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the third inning and sixth inning on the way to a win over Ash Grove on Tuesday.

Trailing 2-1, Diamond (11-2) scored eight times in the third inning to take a seven run advantage. Ash Grove stormed back with a five-run fifth only for the Wildcats to score five runs of their own in the last of the sixth en route to the win.

Grace Frazier had two hits and scored twice. Caitlin Suhrie had four hits, three runs scored and two RBI. A Ball collected three hits, two RBI and scored a run. Marissa DeJager had two hits and scored twice, while Lauren Turner had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Kabrie Parmley had a hit, scored a run and drove in two, while Kenzie Cooke had a hit, scored a run and drove in one. MaKayah Culbertson also had a hit and drove in a run.

Suhrie earned the win after allowing seven runs, four earned, on nine hits, three walks and eight strikeouts in five innings. Turner allowed two hits and struck out five in two relief innings.

Jamalynn Atkinson took the loss after allowing eight runs on 11 hits, a walk and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

Diamond is at Pleasant Hope on Thursday.
