SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Grace Osborne tossed a complete-game shutout, leading Jasper to a 3-0 win over Holcomb on Monday in the semifinals of the MSHSAA Class 1 Spring Softball State Tournament at Killian Softball Complex.
The Eagles (16-9) will meet Wellington-Napoleon (19-2) at noon on Tuesday in the state championship game.
A sophomore right-hander, Osborne surrendered just one hit and three walks while striking out 14 in a stellar pitching performance.
Jasper plated the game’s first run in the third inning. Julia Case walked, with Crystal Smith pinch-running. Smith took second on Abigail Dumm’s groundout and then came home when the Hornets failed to corral Livia Dumm’s ground ball up the middle.
The Eagles added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. Emersyn Bass walked and later scored on Osborne’s RBI double to center. The second run scored on Abigail Dumm’s groundout.
Holcomb’s Alyssa Brown was charged with the loss.
In the other semifinal, Wellington-Napoleon defeated Plato 3-1.
