PREP TRACK & FIELD: College Heights girls take first, boys second at the Class 1 District 6 meet

REEDS SPRINGS, Mo. — College Heights girls track and field took first place in the Class 1 District 6 team standings, while the Cougar boys placed second on Saturday to advance to the sectional meet.

On the girls side, the Cougars scored 123.5 points to best second-place Greenfield (84), which also advanced as a team. Jasper (82) took third and Thomas Jefferson (64) took fourth. In the boys team standings, Jasper took first place with 114 points, while the Cougars placed second with 109 to advance to the sectional meet. Wheaton (71) took third as a team and Greenwood (67) fourth.

While the top two teams advanced, individual athletes who finished in the top four also qualified for sectional competition. The Class 1 Sectional 3 meet is scheduled for Saturday at Sarcoxie.

 

LOCAL GIRL QUALIFYING RESULTS

In the girls 100-meter dash, College Heights’ Addie Lawrence finished in first place with a time of 12.82 seconds, while Thomas Jefferson’s Alivia Beard took second at 13.90. Lawrence also took first place in the 400 with a time of 58.12. CHC’s Jayli Johnson took second in the 200 with a time of 27.52, while Beard took third at 28.75. 

Grace Bishop took the tape in the 1600 and the 3200 for the Cougars after finishing in a time of 5:49.99 and 12:21.83, while Thomas Jefferson’s Sarah Mueller advanced to sectionals in the 1600 with a fourth-place time of 6:26.86. McAuley’s Kendall Ramsey took fourth in the 3200 in a time of 14:06.10. Bishop took third in the 800, crossing at 2:36.83.

College Heights’ Allie Fiscus took third place in the 100 hurdles in a time of 19.48. Lauren Ukena took second place in the 300 hurdles in a time of 51.41 for the Cougars, while Fiscus placed third in 55.95.

The CHC 4×100-relay team of Johnson, Fiscus, Ukena and Lawrence finished in first place with a time of 52.67, while Thomas Jefferson’s team of Avery Hocker, Mueller, Sydney Stamps and Beard took third place with a finish at 57.38. In the 4×200 relay, College Heights’ Johnson, Fiscus, Ukena and SuYeong Choe took first place 1:50.55. CHC’s Johnson, Ukena, Bishop and Lawrence won the 4×400 in a time of 4:39.15, while Thomas Jefferson’s team of Beard, Hocker, Nico Carlson and Mueller took second at 5:02.89.

Hocker took fourth place in the triple jump for the Cavaliers with a mark of 29-11.25, while Stamps placed second in the shot put with a distance of 30-7.5 and third in the pole vault with a clearance of 4-05. Maddy Colin took third place in the discus for the Cougars with a distance of 73-01.

 

LOCAL BOYS QUALIFYING RESULTS

Thomas Jefferson’s Kip Atteberry took first place in the 800 with a time of 2:12.34, while CHC had both second and third-place finishes in Derrick McMillan (2:12.96) and Rolen Sanderson (2:13.7). Atteberry took second in the 1600 with a time of 4:59.79, while McMillan placed third in 4:57.97.

College Heights’ Colson Dickens took third place in the 400 in a time of 54.49, while Dominic Gingerich took fourth place in the 200 in a time of 54.52. Thomas Jefferson’s Levi Triplett took third place in the 110 hurdles in 19.86.

In the 4×100, College Heights’ team of Gingerich, Dickens, Ethan Ukena and Matt Williams took third place with a time of 47.21, while the same team took second place in the 4×200 with a finishing time of 1:37.16. College Heights (Caleb Quade, Ukena, Corbin Thomas, Dickens) and Thomas Jefferson (Kelsey Atteberry, Elias Rincker, Triplett, Kip Atteberry) finished one-two in the 4×400 relay with times of 3:49.96 and 3:57.54. McMillan, Sanderson, Thomas and Quade placed first in the 4×800 for the Cougars with a time of 8:53.81. 

In the long jump, McAuley’s Jacob Bracich took second with a distance of 19-04.25. Ukena added a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37-03.
