CLASS 3 DISTRICT 6
Second-seeded Lee’s Summit West defeated seventh-seeded Joplin 5-0 on Monday in a quarterfinal contest of the Class 3 District 6 boys tennis tournament.
In doubles action, Lee’s Summit West’s Arnva Gannavaram and Hudson Baillie defeated Joplin’s Adam Badr-Josiah Hazlewood 6-0, 6-0, while Lanny Cooper and Owen Liang beat Joseph Graham-Aidan Kester 6-3, 6-0 and Lucas Bonner and Brendan Honn topped Michael Mancipe and Hunter Merkley 6-0, 6-0.
In completed singles matches, Baillie defeated Badr 6-3, 6-1 and Bonner beat Kester 6-0, 6-1.
In other action, third-seeded Lee’s Summit beat sixth-seeded Carthage 5-0. No other information on the Carthage-Lee’s Summit match was available.
Also of note, No. 5 Raymore-Peculiar beat No. 4 Lee’s Summit North 5-2 to earn a date with No. 1 Rockhurst on Tuesday in the semifinals.
CLASS 2 DISTRICT 6
Fifth-seeded Neosho suffered a 5-0 setback to fourth-seeded West Plains on Monday in a quarterfinal match of the Class 2 District 6 tournament.
In doubles, Neosho’s Christian Williams-Ryno Lee suffered an 8-2 loss to Hunter Graham-Aaron Vaughan, while Peyton Williams-Jacob Leibham lost 8-2 to Cody Davis-Jonathan Davis and Wes Williams-Noah Schade fell 8-4 to Danylo Yurpolskyi-Tyler Ames.
In singles, Peyton Williams suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Davis and Schade fell 6-0, 6-2 to Ames.
The other quarterfinal saw third-seeded Glendale beat sixth-seeded Parkview 5-0.
In Tuesday’s semifinals, No. 1 Branson meets West Plains and No. Willard takes on Glendale.
CLASS 2 DISTRICT 7
Second-seeded Thomas Jefferson advanced past seventh-seeded Grandview 1-0 via forfeit and fourth-seeded Webb City defeated fifth-seeded Carl Junction 5-0 on Monday in the quarterfinals of the Class 2 District 7 tournament.
In singles action, Webb City’s Jake McDonald defeated Carl Junction’s Blaine Wilkerson 6-2, 3-6, 10-2 and Christian Alberts edged Dan Hodson 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.
Also, Webb City’s Trevor Peterson defeated Ben Morey 6-0, 6-0, Felipe Perez beat Will Russel 6-1, 6-2 and Tristan Lynch topped Jayden Wolf 6-1, 6-2.
In Tuesday’s semifinals, the Cavaliers meet No. 3 Belton and the Cardinals take on No. 1 seed Barstow.
The semifinal winners meet at 4 on Wednesday for the district title.
