TRACK & FIELD: Carthage athletes fare well at Girard

GIRARD, Kan. — The Carthage Tigers competed at the Girard Invitational on Friday.

For the Carthage boys, Micah Lindsey won the discus with a toss of 130-9 and took first in the shot put (50-1.5).

The Tigers won the 4×100 relay in 44.4 seconds, with Landen Schrader, Luke Gall, Cooper Jadwin and Aiden Rogers competing. Carthage took second in the 4×400 (3:31) and placed third in the 4×800 (8:58).

Gall took second in the 100-meter dash (11.2), while Schrader (52.45) and Tyler Burt (52.74) were second and third, respectively, in the 400.

Daryl Martin and Trenton Yates were second and third in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 16.07 and 16.36, respectively. 

Miquel Solano was the runner-up in the 800 (2:00), while Eddy Fuentes took second in the 3200 (10:58). 

Also for the Tigers, Yates placed third in the triple jump, Caleb Fewin finished fourth in the 1600, Martin took fifth in the 300 hurdles and Zachary Lansford was fifth in the javelin.

For the Carthage girls, Sydnee Dudolski won the 200-meter dash in 27.18 seconds. 

The CHS girls won the 4×100 relay in 51.86 seconds, with Aven Willis, Dudolski, Lexa Youngblood and Joey Hettinger competing. 

The Tigers finished second in both the 4×400 and 4×800. 

Maggie Boyd was the runner-up in the 1600 (5:53) and Hettinger took second in the long jump (15-5).

Also for the Tigers, Karlie Nichols finished fourth in the discus, Jaidyn Brunnert was fifth in both hurdle races and Hettinger took fifth in the high jump.

Team scores were unavailable. 

Carthage hosts the Central Ozark Conference Meet on Thursday at David Haffner Stadium.
