DISTRICT GOLF ROUNDUP: Local players advance to state in Class 2, Class 3

CLASS 2 DISTRICT 3

REPUBLIC, Mo. — Thomas Jefferson’s Jack Tyrrell was among the state qualifiers at the Class 2 District 3 boys golf tournament at Island Green Golf Course.

The top two teams were Springfield Catholic (347) and Willow Springs (372).

Thomas Jefferson finished 11th in the team standings with a 441 and Diamond was 16th with a 522.

Springfield Catholic had the top three finishers, John Griesemer (81), Drew Stufflebam (83) and Jack Beykirch (87).

Lamar’s Koen Littlejohn tied for fifth place with an 88.

Sarcoxie’s Eli Ellis and Matthew Swayne were among the golfers who tied for 12th place with scores of 92.

Tyrrell tied for 15th place with a 93. Tyrrell, Stockton’s Kyle Elkins, Forsyth’s Cooper Voliva and Greenwood’s Matthew Whitworth were the final individual qualifiers.

Also competing for Thomas Jefferson Beck McKinney (102), Tony Touma (119), Benjamin Carroll (127) and Thomas Harrold (129).

Diamond’s top performer was Jarron Hembree (112).

The Class 2 state tournament will be held May 15-16 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

 

CLASS 3 DISTRICT 3

CASSVILLE, Mo. — Monett’s Jaxon Bailey tied for medalist honors at the Class 3 District 3 tournament at the Cassville Golf Club. 

Bailey and Eldon’s Teagen Hull both carded even-par 72.

Seneca and Monett each had three state qualifiers.

Seneca’s Elijah Olson tied for 11th with an 83, while Jeremy Haase and Jace Wilson tied for 14th with scores of 84.

Aurora’s Luke Stellwagen also tied for 14th to advance.

In addition to Bailey, Monett’s Jacob Hoyt finished 19th overall with an 85 and David Southard tied for 20th with an 86. Hoyt and Southard were the final individual qualifiers.

Monett’s Cal Butterworth just missed qualifying with an 87.

Also competing for Seneca were Evan Davidson (97) and Gabriel Garcia (108).

The top two teams were Eldon (309) and Rogersville (315). 

Monett was third with a 330 and Seneca was fourth with a 348. There were 16 teams in attendance.

The Class 3 state tourney is May 15-16 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.
