MINK BASEBALL: Outlaws rally late to beat Mudcats

The Joplin Outlaws scored five unanswered runs late in the game to earn a 5-1 win over the Chillicothe Mudcats on Wednesday night in MINK League action at Joe Becker Stadium. 

The visitors plated a run in the first inning to take an early lead. The Outlaws were kept off the scoreboard the first five frames.

Joplin rallied for three runs in the sixth, as Matt Campbell hit a two-run home run and Carson Carpenter contributed a run-scoring triple.

Korey Siracusa’s two-run single in the seventh gave the hosts some insurance and accounted for the final score.

Caden Bressler, Campbell, Siracusa and Carpenter all had two hits apiece for the Outlaws, while Garrett Chun and Sam Fagan added one hit apiece.

Chun scored two runs, while Campbell and Siracusa drove in two runs apiece.

Ethan Sally started on the mound and went six innings for Joplin, allowing one run on four hits and two walks. Sally struck out 10. 

Bressler pitched three scoreless innings in relief, giving up three hits and striking out three.

The Outlaws are now 17-18. Joplin hosts Sedalia (17-17) at 7 on Thursday, with first place in the South Division on the line.
